On the subject of medical school interviews

Feb 11, 2006 18:44

It went okay yesterday. McGill's med students were less annoying than I expected them to be. (Although some members of the applicant pool I was part of more than made up for that.)

Highlights?

-the guy interviewing me for the afternoon was pretty young and said things like,
"the problem with medicine is how conservative everyone is" - more than once.
He also used terms like, "an' stuff," "killer," and "chill."
Maybe he catches people off guard like that, but I think he was just being normal and nice.

-my friend Chris was there to be interviewed too. He was annoyed with everyone and kept making obscene jokes in the "waiting room" type area because of it. And he threw in a lot of over-the-top faggy behaviour too, which no one there seemed to know what to do with.

-afterwards, Chris took me to the Biology wine and cheese next door that I had forgotten about. I stayed long enough (and drank enough) to pour half a beer onto my academic advisor, Anne. She made some comment about, "smelling like a brewery", but I think she was sloshed anyway. Maybe her 16-year-old was planning to drive her home?

-A girl from U of O updated me on everyone from my highschool. FYI, the 4rth floor makeout couple, John T**** and Dana M*****, are still together, 9 years later. And she has a ring.
