Patriotism, undeveloped

Today, I had a feeling that seldom comes to me, especially about the United States... but it does come, every now and then. It's that feeling you get when you are happy- no, I take it back- proud to see your country's flag, proud of the principles it stands for, proud of the accomplishments, the things your country has achieved. Yes, there are always bad things about it too. But, every now and then, there is a glimmer of hope that I have for humanity, for my country especially. It's when you feel like your country is going somewhere (when it actually isnt). I can't describe it. It's a swelling of pride, of achievement, of believing that your country is doing something right, something good.

Try watching any movie about the Space Race in a "communist country", and I think you might get what I'm talking about.
