There are a lot of reasons you can point to when you try to explain how girls and boys get so engrossed in fandoms. Some  are really in it for the music, some are enthralled by the looks, and some relish the hodgepodge of personalities banded together in a group, but most are in it for a combination of the aforementioned.

I can say my primary draw to Arashi is my admiration for their friendship. It might all be fiction, and most of their on-screen interactions are probably an act of self-conscious perfomativity, but I still admire it. I've never had such deep bonds with people, and I don't believe I ever will. I've often felt like I am forever on the outside looking in, and that to most people, I am an after thought at best. While it's true that I'm more reserved in nature than others, but I sometimes wonder if I've only tricked myself into believing solitude is comforting as a coping mechanism. No one wants to think of themselves as a social failure.

(This was going to be a profound entry but I'm kind of tired to think through my thoughts)
