Meme

Answering the questions by one of my friends as part of that meme...
1. If you could learn another language (without that pesky actually-learning part), which would it be?
Hmm. Just for hobby-related purposes, it would be awesome to know Japanese. Like, know it, and not just have picked up certain things from watching anime for years. On the other hand, it would be also interesting (and useful for my career in disability rights advocacy) to know American Sign Language.

2. What was your first pet?
The first pets I remember having around the house were a black Labrador named Panther and two cats, a silver tabby named Kinky (no, I Don't Know What You Mean, she had a literal kink in her tail!) and a gray long haired cat named Yoda. The first pet that was actually "mine" and who I had responsibility for, however, was an orange tabby named Mr. Tabio. He was a sweet kitty, and he used to follow me around everywhere. :3

3. Have you ever considered (or had) an "exotic" pet?
I haven't owned any pet more exotic than a wild lizard (who was pretty cool). Or... does the peacock that lived around the neighborhood and hung out in my backyard count? I haven't really thought about getting exotic pets, but it would be cool to have one (one of the smaller big cats, for instance, or a pool full of non-poisonous rays that I could pet) if there were a non-sketchy way to get ahold of one and I had the means to take care of it.

4. Who is your favorite Terry Pratchett character?
Damn, this is hard! There are a ton of characters that I like, often for different reasons. Probably of recurring characters, I would have to say it's a tossup between Lord Vetinari and Nanny Ogg. Of oneshot characters, I really liked Nutt from Unseen Academicals. Also keep in mind that I'm nowhere near through the series, so I could have more favorites as I read more books.

5. Have you read any Neil Gaiman (other than Good Omens)? What did you think of him?
I've read Coraline, and the Sandman series. I've also read the graphic novel version of Neverwhere, but never made it through the book version. I think he's pretty good at working with concepts and building worlds, but I for whatever reason had a harder time with his works than some others of getting attached to the world or the characters. I don't think it's a flaw of his as a writer - some things just reach out and grab me more than others, it seems.

If anyone wants to do this meme (I ask you 5 questions, you post them in your journal), just say so in the comments.
