I did not expect to be this pleased.
After my up-and-down feelings about Castle last season, and HIMYM for the last few years, I am... confused.
I'm just entirely pleased with how their seasons have begun. Castle is showing EXACTLY how to have a show where the leads have finally gotten together after the will-they-won't-they and is now making me bitter it didn't happen earlier because omfg, we apparently had nothing to worry about. Focusing on the case with cute bits inbetween? Awesome.
HIMYM I have a few problems with, like how they pretty much just gotta randomly make characters go randomly OOC to get them out of the way (sigh, Victoria and Nick), though I cling to the unreliable narrator as a trope where those traits just weren't relevant. But goddamn, last night, Barney's speech and that sidewalk moment just lifted my heart. And this season has been *funny* again, and I was worried Marshall and Lily having a baby would fuck it up like a few other shows, but they've handled it well.
