We're Here To Save Lives!

This is a sequel to 'Look at Me and Work My Joystick'. I felt bad leaving it as I did and then a kind reviewer asked if someone came to rescue Todd, so I was inspired to write this rescue. The title comes from a Credit reading where Ryan dramatically shouted it while saying nothing else.

Todd’s head pounded and his throat was raw from the hours he’d spent screaming. He no longer knew how long he’d been kept tied up in the dank basement-not for more than a day, probably, but it felt like weeks to the music reviewer.

After her initial assault, Ke$ha had left Todd to wail in peace while she stood across the room and watched him, drinking whiskey directly from the bottle and cackling every so often when a particularly loathsome song blasted from the speakers. Eventually her alcohol ran out and she tossed the empty bottle at the wall. It shattered and the noise drew Todd back from the near-catatonic state he had entered.

“Outta booze, darling,” she said, patting his cheek. “I’ll be back whenever, so in the meantime just enjoy this delightful selection.” Ke$ha pressed a button on her remote and a Justin Bieber song started to play. “I’ve got this one on REPEAT, so have fun while I’m gone.”

“Please,” Todd croaked, his voice brittle at this point. “Have… mercy.” The pop star merely chuckled as she walked up the stairs leading to the only door out of the room.

“Maybe if you’re nicer when I get back, I’ll bring you some carry out.” Ke$ha threw back her head to laugh again and opened the door.

“Stop right there, spawn of the devil!”

“In the name of good music, we will punish you!” Pushing Up Roses slammed a large log into Ke$ha’s head, knocking the blonde down the stairs until she landed on the concrete ground and laid there, unconscious.

“Todd, we’re coming!” Paw and Roses raced down the stairs and over to their friend, who blinked weakly when he saw their concerned faces.

“Paw? Roses?”

“Don’t worry, it’s really us.” Roses worked at untying the ropes binding Todd while Paw found the remote and shut off the music. Todd reveled in the newfound silence and an appreciative smile crossed his face.

“Thank you,” he rasped, which prompted Roses to pull a water bottle from her pocket.

“Here, drink,” she commanded. “And no talking for the rest of the night.”

“Yeah, we need that wonderful voice to be in top shape for your next review,” Paw said with a smile. The two helped Todd to his feet and steadied him as they made their way to the stairs.

“Just two questions,” Todd pleaded once they were out of the house. “How did you find me?”

“Remember when we came over for the ‘Head’ review?” Paw asked. Todd nodded. “Well, I slipped some hidden cameras around the place, like I did at Roses’ house, and saw it when that demon abducted you.”

“Uh huh.” Todd was still too grateful to the music guru to be creeped out by this at moment. “Ok, then Roses? Where did you get that log?”

“I caught it while Paw and I were traveling the Amazon,” Roses replied with a grin.
