I really like my double life. I think I can only be really be described as a scientist/exotic dancer. I like walking around in chest waders, in hiking boots, in field clothes by day and stilettos, red lips, 50s housewife dresses by night. I like thinking about fish movement, learning the life cycles of Mayflies, and tying temperature loggers to rocks. I like thinking about feminism, studying history, and planning burlesque routines. Today I worked a 15 hour day, all in the field. I fiddled with an electrical system and got it to actually work. I put in 9 temperature loggers when we only planned to get about 5 in. I caught about 50 mayflies in the air. It was a really great day and reminded me once again why I love field work, and science, so much. I got home at midnight and had an email about setting up burlesque routines depicting different kinky things, a book of articles on the witch hunts and a whole lot of books about queer film stars from the 1930s. I'm feeling good about who I am and have no idea how I'll ever choose between my personalities.
