Shows that End TOOO SOON. . .on bad notes, or are obliterated by those that create them.

Ok, so one of the biggest pet peeves I have about television (beyond the rating system, but that is an entirely different matter), is how shows are cancelled with loose ends. ALCATRAZ!!! I loved that show. I hated that it was cancelled! A couple of years ago I stopped watching new shows unless there is a really compelling reason. You know, they have Gale Harold in them, or some other star I hold in high esteem. Instead, I wait until I know they are renewed, which in most cases is after the first season has aired or is nearing the end. Then I catch up on dvd when the second season is coming. Or sometimes the third. I like tidy endings. Like Charmed. Or Six Feet Under. With those shows, love or hate the endings, but there is little room for guessing. Of course, we could beat to death the endings (like QAF) that we hated, but again, at least they ended. I think there ought to be a clause. If a show lasts for a season OR more than 13 episodes, and is cancelled, then the network must provide a TV movie to tie up the loose ends. And what's with canceling shows that have only aired one or two episodes? People don't even have time to watch their DVRs before those go off the air! Sigh. I could go on and on and on and on. . .
