Mom and I are at Myrtle Beach this week. She has severe MS and is to the point where she needs to be pushed in a wheelchair if we go out on any excursions. She is one that likes to stay in the room, sit on the balcony, and just watch the ocean. The wheelchair is not just a luxury that would help her

I don't understand why most parents today feel that it is a legitimate excuse to blame their children's bad behavior and lack of manners on the fact that "they have kids". If you have children, discipline them. Be responsible and keep track of them in public places.

That is one of my biggest pet peeves along with people who buy things to shut their kids up. I may be mean but I was watching my 5 year-old niece this weekend and while super-cute, she is spoiled rotten. I was on my way to my sister's house to watch my other niece and new niece-by-marriage and stopped by the store to buy sugar cookie stuff to let them make Halloween cookies...I bought the 'ween M&M's and then got them each one of those Russell Stover cream pumpkins. As we were at the checkout, she starts demanding that I buy her this thing of Tic-Tacs. I told her that we had more than enough candy and that she could wait and get that when she went to the store with my aunt (who has guardianship of her) or grandmother. She sticks her lower lip out, tilts her chin down and crosses her arms over her chest and says "You're going to make me cry!" in the pout-iest voice EVER. I gave her this "Excuse me?!" look and said "No...you are going to make yourself cry...and *I* am going to laugh." Her jaw dropped and before she could turn on the tears, I said "And if I laugh, people are going to stare and wonder what is wrong with you." She totally shut up and didn't give me any problems for the rest of the day. I told my mom about and said "There is no way in hell that I am letting a FIVE YEAR-OLD manipulate me." lol
