Kitten number two?

Dec 12, 2009 17:43

So my neighbor texts me last night at 8:30pm to tell me that she has suddenly decided that it isn't a good time to have a pet. I think it's more she's too lazy and impatient to have a kitten, but there you go. She was going to take it to the shelter but I asked her to keep it over the weekend, because out here, many shelters put animals down within 24hrs due to overcrowding. I've spent a good part of my day looking for a home for this kitty: classmates, rescue groups, veterinary offices, the works. So far nothing has worked out. I can't condemn this kitten to death simply because my neighbor doesn't want her anymore, so unless I get a response by tomorrow, which won't happen because it'll be Sunday and everyone is closed on Sunday, by tomorrow night there are going to be two kittens in my apartment.

I cannot afford two kittens, but I am willing to watch the little one until the minute I leave for home next Saturday. If need be, I am prepared to board her and continue the search when I get home. I can't help but feel this way, because when we split the kittens it could have been Tefnet left to this fate. I can't stand it. I just can't.

There hasn't been a whole lot of studying going on and it's going to come back and seriously kick me in the ass.

Blech.
