Alright! An Update. So after doing my spring work out on Thursday morning, bumming around for a couple of hours cleaning the house for my mom to come home and then running 2 more miles, I got ready to go to the BTE concert. Sporting my new art deco/ rocker top that Rachel Hermann would be SO proud of me for wearing, I got in my car w/ my best buddy Graceann (currently sporting pink hair) and drove downtown to the ROXY. Now, I have never been to the Roxy before and besides having to cough up 15 dollars to park my car (YUCK) it was an amazing venue! There were only two things wrong with it. 1.) There was a platform leading up to the railing in the front, it was only about 2 ft wide just wide enough for an incredibly tall person to stand in front of you and gain yet another 5 inches and make it IMPOSSIBLE to see through and 2.) The platform was aboutu 5 feet from the stage so though we were only 3 rows of people back, we were about 20 ft from the actual band making seeing and catching things not so easy. The concert was amazing! Two bands opened before BTE and though I cant remember either of their names at the moment, they were both pretty good. THe second one was pretty funny because apparently he finally had some fans and that seemed to totally throw them off. There were girls screaming and requesting songs, and they just didnt know what to do wtih themselves. Finally BTE came on and through the rolling smoke and awesome lights, they began playing Track 1 from their new album which just happens to be my second favorite song on it! So me and Graceann went nuts and started dancing, and pretty much didnt stop. When they started playing A Southern Thing, we screamed WAY too loud. All in all it was a great night, brightened by an audience memeber who was brought to the stage in order to get the crowd from an 8 to a 10. He was asked to play... that's right a Cowbell. After telling him what to do and signaling him to start the donk... donk.. donk.. they whipped into a rendition of Dont Fear The Reaper, short and sweet but made me laugh! It was not only funny, but Dont Fear the Reaper is one of my favorite songs no matter what Will Ferrel and Saturday Night Live think of it! Then about 3/4 of the way through the show, the Bassist threw a pick in our general vicinity which hit me on the arm and then disappeared into the oblivion. We spent about 10 minutes staring at the ground while still dancing and didnt find it. Suddenly, another pick was thrown in the air, I watched it sail over my head and as I turned around, I spotted it on the ground behind me. Quick as lightning I bent down and snatched it up and raised it in victory over my head with Graceann screaming beside me. I summarily smacked her right in the EYE with pick and fist, ending the celebration. To make matters worse, the lady behind me tapped me on the shoulder and informed me "That hit me in the face, It's my pick" To which I told her "Such is life!" And turned around to make sure Graceann was o.k. and continute dancing. I told Graceann that it was like Mardi Gras in a nutshell. ;) The night went on, and the music played and all in all it was a wonderful day. Then the concert ends and I launch myself up to the front and get the attention of the nearest backstage hand man, who happened to be a very good looking black man and asked him for the set list. He says No, and I say "why!?" and he mouths that they are not done! So I get back to my spot and sure enough, they come back out and play a couple more. Now, there was a group of very annoying young teenage girls and one REALLY annoying older blonde girl whom I wanted to kill already who heard me asking for the set list and though I am very doubtful that they knew what it was, I could tell that I had started something that was not good. So, as soon as the concert truly ended, I again launched myself to the front and while the black man was handing out the picks that didnt make it to the crowd, he walked over and got the set list from the stage and through the groping hands of the annoying girls, he found me and handed it to me. SCORE! I thanked him profusely while quickly snatching it out of the grips of the blonde bitch beside me and triumphantly showed Graceann. Then we waited around for the band to come out and I got all of their autographs. They are really nice guys totally personal and all that so LONG story short, BTE is awesome and if you ever get the chance, it's not a concert I would miss. PEACE!
