Questions: To spend this summer volunteering as a camp counselor with severely underprivileged children in New Orleans? My friend said that it is "the most challenging but most rewarding thing I've ever done" and while that is a cliche I would tend to believe the truth of it when coming from her.
Pros: New Orleans would be an amazing city to spend time with. I would be with awesome people. I would have something to do this summer, whereas I didn't think I would. I feel like maybe doing this would help me to grow as a person and get used to doing difficult things, and maybe have more compassion for other people.
Cons: It's quite scary. The days are long and difficult. New Orleans is hot as hell. I kind of wanted to spend this summer going around and saying goodbye to people on this coast before going to San Francisco, and if I did this I would only have about a month at home but I think I could make it work.
It's really a face off between taking the easy path and doing something new. It's scary, though, and adding the thought of moving across the country to that it's quite a bit. Oh...graduating from college.
