Well, not really.
But hey, the cast for Robert Zemeckis' new version of A Christmas Carol, coming out next November looks pretty cool. Bob Hoskins, Colin Firth, Gary Oldman and Jim Carrey??? (Jim Carrey discovers what a crappy person he is on Christmas Eve by developing multiple personality disorder, and HILARITY ENSUES! Right Mary?) But seriously, Jim Carrey is playing Scrooge and all three ghosts....smells like time for a journey towards self-discovery! And more motion-capture technology! Also, I love Hoskins, Firth and Oldman. If they had just thrown in Rickman life would have been perfect. Let's see if Zemeckis can make it up to me for what he did to Beowulf. That jerk.
Can you imagine Neil Gaiman writing the script for a remake of A Christmas Carol? Sorry, just a thought. Rickman could totally be in that movie. (No, Tim Burton does NOT get to direct. Johnny Depp can play too, if he agrees to not steal Alan's toys.)
I hope you aren't all disgusted by now and haven't stopped reading because the most important part is....
Cary Elwes and Robin Wright Penn are listed as cast members on IMDb, but their roles aren't mentioned, while every other actor, even "Dancing Girl" have their parts defined. Odd? I think so. Perhaps they are going to reprising their roles as Westley and Buttercup, running through Jim Carrey's past? Honestly, I looked at the cast list, and thought about it, and as far as I can tell the only two parts that have been left out are Young Scrooge and his love interest. You know, when he was all in love with that girl but they never got married because he is tragically a jerk and worried about silly things like money? I guess it doesn't really matter that much, I just thought it was odd that those two specific actors were both in this movie and that they were both left without defined roles (this being because in my mind they are both completely defined by their work in The Princess Bride. Well, I mean, they've both been in other stuff that's good but seriously, The Princess Bride you guys.)
Can you tell that I'm procrastinating? The only times I write entries like this is when I'm procrastinating. God damn it.
EDIT: I'm an idiot. I just saw this link to a trailer for the movie of Angels and Demons and probably because I've been thinking about Neil Gaiman so much lately my mind went to Good Omens instead. So I was sitting there freaking out thinking that a movie version of Good Omens was coming out and I'd missed the news because I was in Argentina and my network of clearly awful friends hadn't told me. (My first thought was actually, "What the fuck, Rachel?") Then I took a breath and realized that Angels and Demons is NOT the name of the Gaiman/Pratchett book, but instead part of the Dan Brown empire. Normalcy resumed.
