(no subject)
So, this CNN article wound up on my iGoogle newsfeed:

It isn't particularly interesting as far as a piece of news goes, there are similar clashes occurring in South America all the time, but just read it anyway. Jackie says that it sounds like someone's notes on a news story that were never actually written up or edited. I agree with her, but what strikes me more is the use of the word "Indian". Has that become acceptable now? I do remember there being some backlash against using "Native American". Or is it something that only makes sense for Colombia for some reason? Or perhaps a poor translation of the spanish word, which would normally translate to "indigenous"? I'm actually really confused. Is it odd that I'm confused? Is this not something to be confused about? I honestly really don't know. When I first started reading the article I thought perhaps they were referring to an actual population in Colombia of people from India, but then there was mention of tribes (and that would have been very unlikely anyway).
In other news, I miss Jack and have a ton of work to do. My response to this is to not do my work, to not do anything, and to curl up in a ball and sleep whenever I can. This really doesn't fix anything, and in fact, just makes matters worse. I'm also having trouble leaving the house when I don't absolutely have to. Sigh. This happens every once in a while, I just didn't want it to happen right now. The work is piling up, and this is not the right time to go all paralyzed.
