please leave me lists
of books
of photographers
of things to do
of quotes
of films & facts
of things to cook
of places to see
of dreams, goals, fears
of things to wear
of gold and silvers

a charm of finches
an unkindness of ravens
a pitying of turtledoves
a descent of woodpeckers
a rush of pochard
a commotion of coots
a muse of capons

from a post in slenderstory's journal. She bought an 'introducing german' book second-hand and typed up some of the sentences they translated into german:

  • the bird does not come. it is dead.
  • today the clouds are blacker than ever. where are the high mountains? behind the clouds?
  • the picture is particularly beautiful. it will never belong to me.
  • do you feel the child trembling? no, but i hear it crying.
  • without saying a word, the sad young man left the house and jumped into the river.

I know, but some of them are just so sad, like 'the picture is particularly beautiful. it will never belong to me.'

I'd never want to have to say that in any language.

"he has been waiting for two hours on the corner. he is waiting for her." is so poignant- I wonder who wrote the book and why they were so distraught.

Franz Wright is one of my favorites. He is my away message.

The Book of Disquiet arrived in the mail today. I'm excited.

Like a man. I loved all of them. I can't decide if I can choose a favorite, because who says I must? Thank you so so much for sharing these with me.

    'My Cup' is my favourite
(it is one of the things I say to myself/shout to music when I am driving in my car. If I can find the list of quotes I shout I will share those with you too)

    "I'm writing you down, Dawn"
"I've had the wind knocked out of me, but never the hurricane"
"the world is a beautiful place"
    "the courage of my memory"
"what matters most is how well you walk through the fire"
"You broke the moon loose from my bones"

    etc.

I will endeavour to write them down when I find them in my throat.

I recognize two of those. Jeffrey McDaniel's Lineage is on my wall, as well as the Bukowski one. Will you tell me where the others are from?

I've realized that I never remember any of the things I've ever said that are worth remembering.

Oh Alisha is the most amazing girl in existance, I must say. Only that may be exaggeration, for I do not know of all the girls in existance, and Alisha might not be a girl anymore, not as in she's a boy, but as in she's older.

I have just recently discovered Ferlinghetti.
