Crossover Rec 'China' by Torch (HL/XF)
I highly doubt that there is a HL or XF fan who hasn't read this fic yet, but that doesn't stop me from reccing it, too, after all this time. If only to remind people to read it again.
"China" by Torch
is a the story that made me watch Highlander. Not because it is such a great description of the HL verse that I couldn't resist the show, no, on the contrary: the only HL person in it is Methos, and Methos is very much a normal person. Who happens to be around when Scully and Mulder go hunting goats in a small town somewhere in America (aren't they all?). But the fic had been recced all over the place (rightfully so), and I wanted to be able to understand it when I read it. So I watched Highlander and got very very distracted for a while. After that, I read China and loved it. And since I recently reread it and got reminded of all this, I thought, hey, I never recced China!
So I'm reccing it now (and you thought I'd never stop talking).
Read it, because Methos is wonderfully human and immortal, Mulder gets laid, Scully exists in a good way (not always a given in XF slash), and because it is simply a long, entertaining and very good fic.
