Well, to begin with, camp is over! And it ended pretty well, I think we were able to undo the damage. And in any case it is no longer my problem. Now we are gearing up for the school year. Brian starts on the 31st, I start on the 2nd, Lucien starts the following week. Last week was full of wonderful things: I went to see Tori Amos in concert on Tuesday. She's amazing. I have listened to her since high school, but this was the first time I'd seen her live. It was a fabulous show.
Friday Brian and I took the kids to Boston to the Aquarium. We took the bus to Providence, then the train to Boston. I got to talk to a friend there, who took us in for free. It was wonderful to talk to him. To feel professionally connected. The kids were AMAZING. Even when we were stuck on the train for an extra 1/2 hour because of a mechanical problem on the way there. Lucien loved the penguins. Mireille loved the fish. It was a great day.
Yesterday I spent all day at the "Gypsy Faery Faire." It was belly dance workshops all day, then performances. I've started taking a class on Saturdays, and then there was this event, and I am feeling so good about doing this again. It was exciting to watch the performances and feel like I can do this, instead of feeling frustrated and wishing I could.
So, as we move into the school year, there is a lot going on. I've been doing lots of political work. There is teaching, there is the children, and there is dancing. Balance. I hope I will be able to balance everything.
