He's been making a map of this place to some success. So far it's mostly just streets and the ever-present tall, grey buildings but there's been a park or two and the kitchen that Crystal had led him to was on there also. It's not much but it's something to do without any sort of real job to keep him busy ( Read more... )

Ham stumbles into the man, not watching where he was going. He was far too busy staring at one of the few ghosts that he hadn't seen before in this city.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I...I wasn't looking." He smiles sheepishly, thick eyebrows knitting together as he adjusts his glasses to get a better look at the man in front of him. No traces of the supernatural clinging to him -- or were there? Each time he blinked, there was a slight shift in the man's -- woman's? -- appearance, all coming back to how he appeared at first glance. A shapeshifter.

He must be getting lax in his old age, he almost missed the other man moving towards him. He blames the birds he'd been watching to see what direction might be worth exploring next, alas that he'd already been west.

"I wouldn't worry, I wasn't exactly paying attention either. You all right?"
He knows that there's a fair amount of bulk to him between him and his pack as well as all the peripheral sharp and hard bits he's got attached to clothing and swords and such.

"Yes, I'm fine, thanks." He grins a bit, looking himself over for any injuries and finding none.

Soon enough, Hammond's eyes fell to the weapons the man carried. "Oh, um, those look...dangerous." His smile turns slightly awkward.

"Ah, good good." To be honest, he's rather glad as his first aid skills are a little rusty.

"Huh, what?" It takes a second for Nawen to realise what the other man is referring to before he notices him looking at the sheathed falchion at his belt. "Not really." He pauses and amends the sentence, "Well, yes, that's the point of it but not while it's there and while I'm not using it."

After her misadventure at the cafe, Zri'ka is drifting down the street, looking at the people as they pass by. Sure, Kisora'ka had given the wisps free rein, but there was nothing to do here. So, when the green-eyed wisp spots someone she recognizes, it's a welcome reprieve from boredom.

"Hey! Nawen!" She flitted a few feet off the ground toward him, waving. "Hi there!"

He's met this one before but he doesn't mind meting her again; Nawen rather enjoyed the company of the wisps last time they met.

"Zri'ka, hello! How have you been getting on here?"

"S'been good! We had a party..." She stopped a few feet away from him, sniffing the air. "... Hey, you've got food, don't'cha?"

"Really? Any occasion in particular or just for fun?" He grins and pulls out a piece of flapjack wrapped in cotton from a pocket and offers it to the wisp. "I do, quite a bit of it, did you want some?"

He notices the man from afar and is a bit wary. This one looks a little menacing and, from a quick evaluation, is carrying weaponry. He doesn't doubt that he can handle the situation if it gets ugly, but he'd rather not sustain any wounds while in this strange place.

Upon closer investigation, Milo notices that the man has a map. Oh, now that might be useful. He approaches slowly, ready to bring up his gun arm if need be.

"Greetings, Sir," he says, tipping his head forward as he's seen others do. "Where did you acquire that map? Are you a local of this city?"

Nawen thinks he's seen this one around before now but can't quite place him just this second. He recognises something martial about the man and although he can't immediately recognise anything that shouts weapon he's still cautious.

He nods his greeting with a tip of his head, "I made it, or, am making it. Why?"

And there's one of the questions he was going to ask answered. There's no way this man's a native if he's asking Nawen the same thing. "No, I don't think anybody here is."

"Merely a simple inquiry," he replies, "I, too, am currently making a map, albeit I have not explored much as of yet."

He stores the man's suggestion in his memory unit, figuring it may come in handy later when deciphering other matters. Now is the time to improve his own map. He comes a little closer, taking decisive steps.

"Would it be a problem if I took a look at your work thus far?"

"Not here long then?" The man seems like one who would have started to get the layout of the land by now if he'd been here for any length of time.

"No problem at all." He's not sure how much use the map will be as all the writing in in Nawen's native runic language and quite different to that strange 'Common' script on all the signs in this place. He offers the paper to the man nonetheless. "Here you go."
