THE ESSAY ON DEATH THE KID. aka the return of slightly expanded bullet points. I think I will do this for my entire set now that I'm really getting back into playing again, hoho. Watch me forget all about this!
Kid and relationships / people in general
Kid is fucking hard sometimes, because he doesn't make relationships like the other characters I play and have played in the past. I mean, even Robert makes better relationships than him! But the thing is that ... it's hard to really explain. He doesn't actively seek people. He's the sort where people will only vaguely register with them. I mean, obviously, he does make deeper relationships in canon - take Maka, for example. But even with Maka, he doesn't talk about himself. It's a "she's my friend, I trust her in battle, I care about her to some extent" and ... that's it. Ditto Black*Star! The Thompson sisters are at a different level because they're his guns, man.
HE'S A LONER, basically. But not an emo or "saaaaad and alooooone" kind of loner. It's just how he rolls. He's a loner who understands teamwork, if that makes sense? It's really hard for me to pinpoint. But because of that, Kid doesn't ... make strong relationships. Which is fine, since it's how he is!
If people talk with Kid, he will likely remember their names. He just won't make any strong connection other than that unless a person pings him in a certain way. Black*Star in canon was like this! He pinged Kid more and more over the course of the series and as they kept working with each other. Natsume Maya in camp is also like this - Kid's been building up a respect towards her over the months.
But really, on that note, Kid doesn't actively dislike people either. He's actively cautious of some (Ayanami, Mukuro), but there's no full-blown hate!!1 yet. ... Although Ayanami has the potential to shift into another category depending on future interactions and whatnot. In general, Kid doesn't outright hate or hold grudges against people (... grudges that last for more than five minutes, anyway). If someone is dangerous and a threat to Shibusen or those from it, however ...
Kid makes some hilariously antagonistic relationships sometimes, though. And that is really awesome. 8Dd
The mission
Kid is in camp on a mission from his father! Collecting the kishin eggs/bad souls/WHATEVER TERM WE'RE USING THIS WEEK, etc. He's more of a backburner character of mine, so I just sort of assume that when I'm not playing him, he's using Beelzebub (MAGIC FLYING SKATEBOARD) to investigate and do his thing. When he isn't being an OCD retard, he's actually fairly competant on missions! He's calm, composed, and pretty damn good. But that one thing trips him up and keeps him from being the ~*perfect*~ meister, etc etc. Hilariously. BUT HE'S GOOD ENOUGH THAT THEY TAKE HIM ALONG TO APPREHEND WITCHES even though it was an extracuricular thing. shut up.
The thing with Kid is that the mission is important to him. With that said ...
Thoughts on Medusa

KID ISN'T STUPID. He's OCD and really freaking distracted sometimes, but for the most part, he's not a moron. Recent chapters have him flipping out over Eibon, but IMHO, this is understandable since Eibon has been linked with his dad. He's more likely to rush into a situation head-first when it has something to do with his father.
With that said, with Medusa, Kid's approach in the later manga chapters is more ... down to earth. Maka's the one that freaks out. Kid clearly isn't happy about Medusa, but he's very rational about how he handles the situation. Part of it later on is that they have to work with her, but even before that truce is struck up, he's very matter of fact about her. In chapter 45, he's obviously Not Happy about the whole situation with Medusa, but he's handling it as best as he can because he realizes that it's the best for everyone.
In camp, the situation is tricky! Kid generally listens to Shibusen staff, but at the same time, he gets Stein's, uh, flimsy grip on sanity. Which means that Kid takes what Stein says with a grain of salt at all times. That said, he knows Medusa is bad news. He also realizes that if they publicly spread that she's bad news, it'll only make things more difficult. His current plan of action is to quietly speak with those in the dojo about her, contact Maka and make sure that 1) she knows and 2) she won't post "HAY GUYZ MEDUSA'S A WITCH" or do anything rash along those lines, and come into contact with the two that Stein mentioned (Bishop Castor and Morrolan).
As for dealing with Medusa herself, Kid's wary of this. Camp is camp! He knows how it is. And even with his weapons, he knows there are people more powerful than him. He also knows that Stein had a hard time with Medusa, and dude - it's very, very unlikely that Kid is more powerful than Stein. shinigami =/= godmode. HE IS AWARE OF THIS. So he will not actively pick a fight with her; picking fights with people isn't his style, anyway. He's going to start keeping an eye out for her, though, and depending on how his next thread with Maka goes, there might be more.

THE ONE PART ABOUT HIM THAT I REALLY HATE SOMETIMES.
I love Kid, okay. And I love all the aspects of his character. He is really interesting to me, and I love digging into his serious side and seeing how that plays out. Some of my favorite threads are of him really getting to shine as Kid. And he's got his goofy side too, with the OCD et all! Wh-which is funny! To an extent! I loved his thread with Liz in the 8/8/08 post.
The problem is that I as a player hate overdoing stuff. When it's beaten into the ground, it's not funny to me anymore. The OCD stuff is funny in moderation, but when I apped him, I remember thinking "... god, I really don't want to do that every single thread." While it's the part that PEOPLE REMEMBER about him ... dude, it's not his entire character. It doesn't even show up for ten chapters, and it's mainly used as random gags nowadays (TURNING LEFT IN ARACHNE'S CASTLE, the spinning while shooting stuff, etc). And in canon, people don't really trigger him! ("lol your hair!") Whereas in camp, people ... do. A lot.
THE POINT BEING. I DON'T LIKE PLAYING OUT LONG "LOL OCD LOL" THREADS.
luckily, I came up with the perfect solution for this and let Kid's account expire, so he doesn't have his spazzing icons. 8)
But in all seriousness, as a player, I'm going to start being a bit pickier about what I post with him and where I play him. If I drop a thread with you when I'm playing Kid, I'm sorry! It's just that doing only these types of threads really, really burns me out on him. And then it's not fun for me, heh.
At the same time, it's a part of his character! But Kid also has ... other parts of his character that I want to explore. Kid as a whole is a versatile character - I can do crack with him guilt-free, but I can also do some really awesome serious threads with him. It's simply a matter of balancing it.

Kid was on the chopping block for ages. Liz and Patty had been contacted and warned a month or so ago. I actually even told people that I'd probably be down to two characters within a month! A thread with Stein over the weekend reminded me that, no, I do love Kid and all that his character entails. I just don't like overdoing the OCD stuff. With that said, I have some general plans for him, but I have to be pickier about the threads I do with him and I probably shouldn't post with him unless I'm co-posting with someone. There's a certain balance I like to keep with him.
... also, I should really stop being nervous with him. I'm actually fairly confident with his voice! But I have an awesome cast in camp and lots of people read Soul Eater and Kid's a popular character and kjfdkgld. IT'S MILDLY TERRIFYING SOMETIMES, but oh well, I love playing him.
He definitely has a good couple months or so left in him, and with the possibility of us getting a Soul and a Black*Star in the next camper round, I am going to do my damnedest to play him as best as I can.
