Title: Balance
Universe: The Background
Characters: Sascha Osbourne, Zelus Peisinoe
Word Count: 300-ish
Rating: PG
Summary: There'd been a hole in the roof, and it was bugging him. Naturally, he wanted to fix it.
Much of Sax's behaviour could be seen as rather feline. It was probable that, being some bizarre genetic mish-mash of who knows what, there was some cat in there. It would explain his obsessive nature, the fascination with bits of string, and the purring.
"So... why were you on t'roof anyway?"
Unfortunately, Sax didn't possess a cat's sense of balance. In fact, he was more prone to cuts, scrapes and bruises than the rest of the household put together. This, combined with Sax's insistence on doing things by himself, had a tendency to lead to disaster.
He hissed inwardly, feeling his own fur bristle at the pain as continued the task of plucking the glass shards from the wound. "There was a hole. I was fixing it."
"Well, that were bloody stupid of you. Should've waited f'Tear to come back."
"Zell, you're not helping!"
"Too right!" Zell crossed his arms, casually leaning up against the wall as he waited for the water to boil. "C'mon, you're twenty, y'should know better than to climb up on t'roof with your sense of balance or lack thereof. What'd've happened, right, if you'd broke your neck in that fall? You got off light just landin' on that bottle, with no broken bones or owt. You're well lucky. Now we just need Casey or..."
Sax glared at his friend, before interrupting. "Don't lecture me. I'm not a kid."
Zell, ever resistant to glares and evil looks, just laughed. "You seem to need lookin' after just as much as the rest of 'em. Casey'll fix that proper, by the way." He glanced at the pan of water, which still had yet to boil. "So what do you want for tea, anyway?"
