Ryan and Sandy

I wanted Sandy flogged last year by the end of the first episode. I was discovering new emotions and levels of disappointment afterwards. And Kirsten? I wanted to shake her. She not only cut the poor kid off at the knees during the intervention, but she avoided him while he was in home-school hell and never had the courage to address her unbelievably hurtful words, spent all of her time with Julie, and never made any overtures to connect with Ryan or even inform about first her progress and then her relapses re: her drinking. Whatever her logic, she was hiding and she wasn't including him- again. Even her actions involving Dawn were poorly thought out and seemed more about making herself feel better than considering the consequences, Ryan's feelings or well-being.

If either of the Cohens profess to being confused as to why Ryan would be distant, feel as if he was unwelcome, disruptive and already separated from the family even before the accident, they need a serious wake up call.

I don't want to get my hopes up either, but I really feel they can't do worse than last year and the latter part of S2 with the parenting. By the end of last season, Ryan seemed like an afterthought to the Cohens unless they needed something. He simply passed through rooms in their home.
