I was supposed to go out with a friend of mine on Tuesday. We planned a week in advance, assuming we'd get together sometime in the early afternoon. I confirmed plans on Tuesday morning and she said she had to go shopping with her mom, which wasn't a big deal. I told her to call me when she was finished. By 8pm, she still hadn't called, so I rang her house. Her sister answered and told me she was seeing a movie with a friend.
At 11pm, she got online and said "I'M SO SORRY!" and began to explain that her mother kept her out to spite her plans. Until 11pm? Right. I asked her how the movie was and called her on the bullshit story. Why is it that people think they can lie to me so easily? Finally she admitted her lie and sincerely apologized.
I explained that she had destroyed any potential for trust and that her demonstration of deceit would hardwire doubt into my relations with her. As it is pointless to maintain any kind of friendship or relationship without trust, I've said goodbye.
I don't suppose I can expect to come first for people that haven't been approved for "best friend" status, but I would at least enjoy a little respect. Some common courtesy. No one deserves to be lied to. Fuck man, that infuriates me.
