Well last night I got initiated into the crazy world of Ibiza club life. David (a WWOOFer from the next farm over, also from Canada) and I got spiffed up (took showers to get the top layer of farming grime off and put on our dancing shoes) and went down to Eivissa city to party at Pacha, one of the biggest and most well known clubs on the island. We got to Eivissa fairly early by Ibizan standards, around midnight, so we went to one of the "locals" bars to get cheater drinks before heading on to Pacha. We got there around two probably, armed with vodka and Redbulls to give us enough energy to keep going, and I was totally bowled over. It was probably originally an upper class mansion/village, which was converted into a club, so the decor was really classy and incongruous with the crazy lighting and half-naked dancers. We waded in and danced for a couple hours, taking a break to refuel a couple times, then we went exploring and found another section! It wasn´t quite as big, but the music was great. I plucked up my courage and got up on one of the stages near the DJ´s table, because it was so crowded on the dancefloor I decided it was cramping my natural creative dancing style (ie, I kept accidently stepping on people) so I hopped on up. It was so much fun there! The DJ and I made friends, without actually talking because it was too loud, and the lighting guy and I danced together. I felt like I could keep dancing all night, so when David suggested we pack it up I was surprised. Then we walked outside and I was even more surprised; the sun was up! It was 8 in the morning!!!
When I got home I slept for two hours, then submitted to the sunshine and got up. Tonight I´ll be sleeping in the Madrid airport, so I´ll probably be totally wrecked by the time I get to my next farm in Lyon. Wish me luck!
On another night, Ibiza Global Radio is on the internet, so you can google it of you want to tune in to what I´ve been listening to here.
