Oh my goodness, this place in Ibiza is crazy. Misleading description just about covers it. It was described on the WWOOF website as a place with lovely gardens, lot´s of animals, daily meditation and a recycling operation. There are a couple small gardens, a lot of really mangy scabby cats and two huge dogs with limps, meditation is out the window, and instead of running a recycling project, mostly people go out and scavange for junk. That´s right. I live in a dump. Mountains of pop bottles and old palates, out of date food and rotting vegetables at every turn. And you haven´t heard the best part. The out of date food and rotting veg? That´s our food. No joke. The kitchen where I´m sitting is absolutely stuffed with moldy bananas, cans of beans and jars of fruit and cartons of milk and juice with the due date a matter of days ago to a matter of months ago. Yang, another WWOOFer here even found some oil from 2005.
Yang is a funny guy. He´s from China, and very interested in plants and flowers. He´s such a quiet, soft-spoken guy, who seems more comfortable with herbs than people, but he´s been to the craziest places! He´s been to a nudist colony in Hawaii and a free-love/peace worker place in Portugal.
Alan is the other WWOOFer I spent a lot of time with. He´s Welsh and much older than most of the WWOOFers I´ve met, 47. He´s a diehard Bob Dylan fan and he´s shown me around a lot of the Island. Ibiza is beautiful. Lot´s of palm trees, orchards, beaches.
I´m really not sure how to feel about the whole thing, so for now I´m choosing amused. Do tell me what you think.
