Some things are just meant to be read to others. Like a good tune which finds you tapping your feet, there is a certain cadence to the syllables that makes your mouth want the dance of saying the words aloud. Charles de Lint's "Tapping the Dreaming Tree" and "The Onion Girl" - and probably any of his other works set in or around Newford - are such books, though his "Greenmantle" is the kind of novel best read in your head.
