“So how do you do this, then?”

Normally Sam would baulk at asking such questions of Baal, but it saves times reading through the instruction manual.

“You try to kill my team before I kill yours.”

She levels him a look. “Well, I'd not figured that.”

He rolls his eyes. “Choose your munition, aim and fire. It's nothing that you haven't done a thousand times before.”

“Says you.”

“Are you going to select a team or argue with me?”

“Who says I can't do both?” She decides on the Marines, ignoring another roll of Baal eyes. “We Tau'ri females excel at multi-tasking.”

“Yes, you can be both annoying and wrong.”

He chooses, rather unoriginally she thinks, for the Geniuses. They've been renamed. She tries not to laugh, resulting in a sudden coughing fit. Baal watches her, seemingly unconcerned as she fights for breath.

“You're a moron,” she wheezes finally. “How can you tell which is which when they're all called Baal?”

“Believe me, I'm used to the minute differences.”

She stares at him and then at the small, salmon-coloured cartoons on the screen.

“You know,” she says. “They do look a little like you.”

The Worms are forgotten in the tussle that immediately ensues.
