Hello OI!

I'm sure you've noticed that most of our designers have moved on to bigger and more awesome things. We love them, and they will always be a part of OI, but we need some new blood.

I'm considering this but I thought I'd ask a stupid question first: if one is accepting, they can still keep their own separate icon journal that they have already?

Yes, they can. They can post in both places if they want, or only post at OI, or whatever they'd like to do. It's up to them.

Yep, absolutely. We're not out to censor anyone or demand exclusive icon rights or anything crazy like that--the way I see it, the more icon love posted around the world, the better.

If you could organize it into a comment, that would be wonderful. :)

Question about text-only icons--how much of a background/texture are they allowed to have? That is, what's the difference between a text-only icon and a very simple icon with text?

Good question! I often use textures with my text-only icons, as you've probably noticed. If you'd classify the background/base as a texture, and not a picture - if that makes sense - then it's text-only. Does that help?

Yes, I think so. Thanks!

I know Ariel has already answered this, but just in case anyone else is wondering, I personally consider a "text-only icon" to have text as the main and sole focus. A photo can be used as a background--I think I've used some abstract ones before--but the text is the centerpiece and the purpose of the icon. Whereas regular icons are, to me, more about harmonious marriage of text and image, with each getting equal attention.

Just curious are you guys still accepting new makers? I'm not sure if my aesthetic matches your members, but I just thought it wouldn't hurt to ask. :)
