Clara's icons: 44 tabloid headlines

Nov 17, 2006 08:04

So last night I was playing a computer game when the film noir detective dog and the sociopathic, hyperactive rabbit read several tabloid headlines aloud. My brain exploded into fireworks of inspiration. I went, "YES!" and immediately started on the difficult task of putting together a satisfactory mock-up of a newspaper. Ariel helped me with brushes, and Ty thought of the name of my fictional tabloid paper. (I didn't use the existing papers because I think that their names are boring. Mine is better and makes more sense. I refuse to concede to anyone who disagrees!) After a good forty five minutes and more layers than I've ever bothered to deal with before, I started on this set of tabloid headlines. Because really, who doesn't find the supernatural tabloids completely hilarious?? If you don't at least read them in supermarket lines and chuckle then there is something seriously wrong with you and we probably shouldn't talk.

Almost all headlines are taken from this site, which picks out a favourite top ten tabloid headlines from every month going back a number of years. I only made it halfway down through 2004, so if you take a look at the site and see a headline you would specifically like made into an icon, I have the base still made and would be happy to whip anything up. Just comment on this post with the headline you like if you want to take me up on this generous offer.

I shouldn't have to say this, but some of these may offend. I shouldn't have to say this, either, but tell me which ones you take, if any! I worked on these all night and I want to see if the ones that particularly tickle me are as funny as I think they are. Really, it should be so easy to tell me what you take with these ones. Each icon can be described in two words maximum and the filenames are clear and concise.

Enough blather!

p.s. Credit is really nice, but I never demand it. Just don't claim these as your own.

p.p.s. There may be typos. If you spot any, shout. I will correct them as immediately as I can.

p.p.p.s. Yes there is tiny text despite our well-documented hatred of it! No, it is not a downloaded brush! It is the beginning of a story that I made up about the demonic toaster since that's the one I made first.
