I have seen several different people do sets of
Edward Gorey's Gashlycrumb Tinies before, but never to my complete satisfaction. The names were gotten wrong, or the base images were of unacceptable quality, or the format wasn't to my liking. I saw someone on a community using an image from the frontispiece of the book, which reminded me that I have always vaguely intended to make a set of Gashlycrumb Tinies of my own. And, since it is Halloween and I feel I should post something seasonal, I did.
For those not in the know, Edward Gorey was a spooky gothy writer/illustrator. The Gashlycrumb Tinies is an A to Z book of twenty six children and the horrible ways in which they die. I am not completely satisfied with my take on it. I used the best base images that I could find online, but they are still rather grainy and unpleasant. Also, I did these late late at night and used a font that I might not have chosen if I'd realized ahead of time how disappear-y the D can be. Once I'd figured this out I had gotten too far in to the set to start over, though, and so here it is in its imperfect glory. I might redo some and post the edited versions tomorrow, though. *edit* Thanks to EmmaV's good advice, I strengthened the D's and some of the M's. Yay. :)
Disclaimer: These are not my art. Or my words. I only smooshed the two together. I stake no claim over these. They are copyrighted to the estate of Edward Gorey, and will be removed if anyone has legal objections. I strongly suggest that anyone who takes these credits the artist, but take no responsibility over what the community members choose to do regarding credit.
