Tutorial: How to Make an Icon (in Photoshop)

I recieved a request for this tutorial a while back from someone on the comm that I've posted it on (icon_basics). I just finished typing it up and thought it might be useful for a few people here on OI, too.

This is a very, very basic tutorial. It goes over simple gradients, cropping, blend options, adding text and new layers, and adding a one-pixel border.
