A Miniscule Drabble...

I couldn't resist... not with all the feelings inspired by last night's episode, and just... I guess this is my way of making peace with the entire thing while I wait a week to see what's actually going to happen. (^^)"

It is part of a larger drabble series, but this is the one I wrote as a reaction to last night's episode, and it's not exactly greatly spoilerish, but even so...

Also, it's probably the most blatantly A/R one that I've written thus far.

Safe

When the haze of anger and pain and the confusion inspired by loss later faded, there would be nothing left to them but to reach out tentatively again from behind their cloaks of loneliness and fear.

Hands would reach and grasp the other, and there would be comfort in knowing that what lay shattered at their feet was only one piece of the grand puzzle. Despite oblivion in golden liquid and the sting of poison, they would survive.

There was no choice in the matter.

They had to live for the sake of others, and they had to live for the other because they had no one else to live for them. In the end, there was no questioning the worth and cost of living. This was the reality of their world, the remnant of the legacy left by the generations that lived before them.

And as they sat, together, shoulders barely brushing, hands loosely clasped, and silence brewing, it became clear: it still wasn’t safe, but for now, it was as close as they could get.
