You just walk in, I make you smile
It’s cool but you don't even know me
You take an inch, I run a mile
Can't win you're always right behind me
And we know that you could go and find some other
Take or leave it or just don't even bother
Caught in a craze, it's just a phase
Or will this be around forever?
Don't you know it's going too fast
Racing so hard you know it won't last
Don't you know, what can't you see
Slow it down, read the sign, so you know just where you are going
Stop right now, thank you very much
I need somebody with the human touch
Hey you always on the run
Gotta slow down baby, got to have some fun
Do Do Do Do Do [x3] - always be together
Ba da Ba Ba [x3] - stay that way forever
Don’t think I watched this movie since seeing it in the theatres in 1998. Upon rewatch, I was shocked by just how jam-packed it was with cameos. Alan Cumming and Naoko Mori in actuals roles aside, I felt it was my duty as a fan to cram in random clips of Fry and Laurie and Dominic West. (And Meatloaf, but more by accident than design.)
Back in the day my favourite was Mel C (ironic, seeing I was the stereotypical Asian who’d get smacked in the glasses every time a ball came within 30 feet of me). These days it’s probably no surprise that it’s Victoria. I wanted to touch on the idea of the girls as public constructs that may have been easily replaced by any other girl that slotted into their “types”, and the role of the “movie Simon Fuller”, but didn’t want to push it too far since it’s supposed to be more a heartwarming vid than an analytical one. It’s an amazing concept though, the pick-your-favourite-archetype, which never seems to have been replicated since to the same scale. I suppose the novelty factor only works once.
