I think what I love most about your vids is that they are visually stunning *and* narratively dense. I'll need to watch this many more times, but even on first view it catches the complexity of the plot and the characters and the relationships (familial and other), and i love the way it begins and ends with Ned but encompasses everything else with and through him. There seems to be something oddly circular and repetitive about this world, and your vid reflects that, both in the structure and the mirroring images.
It's just gorgeous and moving and the song is beyond perfect (my kids are having a blast bringing one of their favorite games together with vidding, though only the older one gets to watch GoT :)
I'm so glad that you enjoy the narrative density and the expansion of Ned POV, yay! And thank you. :) GoT is so insanely sprawling that it always becomes an issue of what can you feasibly cull and still have the story make sense. I know I personally am really looking forward to more footage to explore more characters and relationships. Thanks again for your lovely comment!
I came here and downloaded this after a comment cathexys made about it- thank you so much for your obvious work you put into it! I'm awed at the quality and the narrative elements, as well as the incorporation of the mirror images that Cathexys also mentions. I got totally drawn into GoT with the TV series and am now listening to it as an unabridged audio book. Pretty amazing stuff! Thank you so much for sharing your skill with us. :D
Thank you so much! I'm thrilled that you enjoyed the narrative and parallels, and yay for the books! I'm mostly through AFoC myself, although I couldn't wait and had thoroughly spoiled myself. :D
So incredible, as always! ♥ I've been listening to this song the whole summer, but never once associated it with GoT - but you made it fit so perfectly! And all the parallels ♥_______♥ The one with Lyanna's face fading into Jon is my personal favourite - left me breathless. All in all, PERFECTION! :D
Oh hurray! I'm so glad that you thought it worked with the song. :D For me it felt sooo GoT as soon as I heard it. Thank you!
BOOK SPECULATION AHEAD
And hee, yes, Lyanna >> Jon was the one book thing that I really wanted to touch on, even though there's woeful little footage and absolutely none of Rhaegar, boo. I think I will need to deal with book stuff more fully in a vid later on.
Ah, yay! I'm so glad that you noticed things like that! :D I love details like that but don't always expect viewers to pick up on them, so it's extra cool when you do. And, I so know what you mean about Catelyn leaving Ned that one final time. The first time I watched the series I didn't know what was coming, but rewatching it after seeing the first season just killed me. I'm so glad that those moments worked for you. :)
I love how your vid moves with the music, particularly the really fast cuts in between, and I love the sense of fate that can't be avoided and of impending doom that I get from this video. I have no idea how you did it but it feels like every important scene from the House of Stark is in these 3:15 minutes. Amazing work.
I'm so glad that you liked the cutting, thank you! :) And, yeah, after knowing the end of the season it's hard to shake the impending sense of doom! ;D
