gucci?

Thank you to those who replied to an earlier post. I appreciate your kind words.

To add even more shit into a shitty day, I just realised that a second-hand Gucci bag that I put up for online auction might not actually be authentic. Can anyone help me out?

ETA: I removed the listing because I decided I shouldn't sell if I couldn't authenticate. ( Read more... )

help?, life stuff

Perhaps put up the listing, but say "I was given this, I can't verify it is real- could be a good fake"

and set the price really low?

Like, "nice black bag, blah blah blah, 50% chance it's gucci, but no real idea"

The site that I'm selling it on won't accept designer item listings unless you can authenticate. Honestly? I've just been so stressed by this whole experience that I think I'll just keep it or give it to the Sallies or something. :D

At that point, yeah, it's time to just donate it to get it out of the house, or sell it for $5 at a garage sale or something.

No reason to stress about it.

I find it funny, because I am always buying shoes on e-bay. However, I'm buying 'Simple' brand shoes- largely because the are between $5-$30 on e-bay slightly used, and $60-120 new. But this works mostly because they are a brand that has no functional value as a fake. The market is too small, the price point is too low.

But you couldn't pay me to buy some of the more popular 'brand' shoes, the ones that sell in the $100's. Because why pay that much for a possibly fake shoe, when you could get one that was guaranteed similar but not that brand for much much much less new?

I am probably not the one to ask about these things.

I don't get the designer market at all. This bag was a hand-me-down from years ago, so I don't have any of the authenticity certificates. And I just have no idea why some people spend so much money for bags and shoes and shit.

You and me both.

I'm willing to spend a certain sum of money for better quality. I like the cute european orthopedic shoes- Birkenstock is one type, but really, the ones that aren't birkenstocks. I'll pay a bit more for the quality.

And the same with bags- I would rather get a better quality one on massive sale than a cheap one that was that price to start with.

But: The price point for all of this stuff is pretty low. And fashion isn't really the issue- I mean, I like round toed clunky mary janes, but I have no clue if they are fashionable. And bags, while I like them pretty, I want them functional. Must hold my stuff, and stay on my body.

The whole, let me spend the cost of a car on a bag thing? Just escapes me utterly. No one I know would care. And if they did, you should have won that in a contest, or gotten it a 99% off. There is no respect for the purchase of a $3000 bag in my social circle.

I wonder if this means I hang out with un fashionable people? I can't be really bothered to care.
