1:14. It's the crappy CG snake beast from Buffy 5x08! But much bigger.
3:15. Funny how this is the very first time they start talking about the term "the old religion". Could have done with a bit of foreshadowing earlier in the series. I know the concept has been bandied about, but the term itself hasn't and suddenly it's dropped into every crevice in this episode. Just odd.
4:03. Harry Pottery dream sequence!
4:25. Femslashers rejoice!
7:42. Holy shit, there's actual blood shown onscreen.
8:23. "He's my friend." Noted that the "boy" in front of "friend" was discreetly left silent.
9:49. Cool music. So many red garments onscreen. Vid!Yay.
13:33. Hairy chests are disturbing.
~16:00s. Argggh, you've got to love Gwen/Arthur a little bit. They are doing very well that even the diehard slash fangirls seem to be generally enjoying the canon (future) A-couple.
Also, TMI - that is a very distracting and oddly lickable nipple, despite the chest hair.
16:38. "The man I see inside you." I'll pretend she said that and meant Merlin. Yes, I'm in the bottom!Arthur camp. I blame
this fic.
17:14. Candlelit vigil. Cool and cheesy in equal measures.
19:25. Nimueh is so hot with that lipstick and the dress.
20:26. It's a bit early to be finding the Holy Grail, innit?
22:20. Arthur's head in Merlin's lap. Le sigh.
29:30. Badass dragon fight!
32:13. "I decide when we need to talk." "Not today." As if it wasn't obvious from 16:38 above, I am in the top!Merlin camp.
41:08. He exploded her! Am sad. :( Also, doesn't she have a larger part to play in the legend? How will she play it now?
41:32. The hero shouts "noooo!" to the sky in the pouring rain as the camera does a dramatic pull-up. That's how we know Gaius is really dead according to the law of all TV and movie logic ever.
41:45. Wait. What?
42:38. Fucking 7pm children's programming slot.
42:57. Slash destiny dragon is the s2 enemy! HEEEEE.
43:15. "Merlin will return." We already knew that, but still lots of happy to read.
Didn't think it was as good as it could have been, but it was plenty good for me nonetheless. Now I'm set to re-watch the series as I finally got around to showing my friend Nina the pilot yesterday. So far she can't take her eyes off Merlin's ears but have already decided that he is less ugly than she originally thought. She originally thought Arthur is ugly too, but I'm sure that view won't last long once she sees the next episode.
