vid recs, supernatural

Some freakishly good vids got popped out in quick succession in the last couple of days, starting with bradcpu's House one, recced in previous post. Now a couple more. And one older one, which I downloaded a while ago but didn't get to see until yesterday.

The two SPN vids are both spoilery for s2.

Invisible Hands by millylicious, Supernatural, John-centric.
This is spine-tingling, heart-breaking stuff. Amazingly executed with incredible emotional weight. Is just beautiful.

All that I Am by lithiumdoll, Supernatural
I just love the way this has been structured, shifting from one POV to another with perfect ease. And the use of fire is just brilliant!

And the older one:
King Tide by ficbyzee, Heroes, ensemble, up to something like... 1x06?
I'm so in love with the structure of this vid, the way one storyline flows into the next with perfect grace. And the amazing building of pace! I was completely breathless by the end of it. It just perfectly captures the feel of the beginning few episodes.

My friend came over in the weekend and we had a seven-episode SPN marathon. Now up to 2x03.

After watching s1 we were wondering why we're not fangirling as much as we thought we would, even though we do like the show a lot. Decided it probably came down to the fact that a)we both sort of knew what was happening/going to happen through watching too many vids and reading by-the-by spoilers and b)we don't have to wait between each episode so the obsessive longing never had to reach a peak. But we're in the home stretch now, so we'll see what happens when we have to wait for a new episode each week like everyone else.

But anyway - superb season ending, naturally. Thought it was a very big deal (a carry-over from immersion in Buffyverse, I suppose) that Dean killed a human (and sort of killed Meg). Can't remember much else in terms of gut reaction... just enjoyed it a lot.

2x01 was awesome. My favourite line ever: "I full-on Swayzed that mother!" *falls over laughing* Ouija board bits v. cute. I never quite got into the daddy-worship so probably wasn't as sad as most people. And I can't be the only person who gets annoyed like hell by that damn coffee cup falling upright. That's just weird and freaks me out every time I see it.

The next couple were pretty slow. Bobby kicks arse though. And Dean's all angry, I love it. And here we go with the vampire-racism a la Buffy. (and Amber Benson! Whee!) I find it interesting that characters who exemplify vampire/demon-racism seem to often be consciously cast, namely black actors. Remember the guy who trashed Caritas in s3 Angel.

Wanted to say something else, but forgot. Will be back when/if I remember.

telly, vid recs
