harry potter, updates

Harry Potter DVD came out in New Zealand yesterday, and my sister bought it as soon as possible, but since I didn't like the fourth movie all that much I wasn't in a lot of hurry to sit down and watch it with her. I did watch the deleted scenes today though - and of course the coolest, most fabulous thing was seeing all those close-ups of Jonny ( Read more... )

I liked HP4 enough, but not enough to want to rewatch it heaps. I saw it twice at the cinema and the second time I was bored out of my skull. It's good though, because at least I don't have to spend money I don't have.

Yeah, I'm getting growingly disillusioned with the HP movies. They aren't doing too good a job with the adaptation.

I picked up the HP DVD today - found it for $20 in an outlet mall on the way to work. I'm wondering if they put it with the cheapies by accident. I haven't seen it yet because movie theatres freak me out.

Wow, bargain! Must have been put there by accident. Am v. jealous. Why are you afraid of theatres?

Anxiety disorder. 11 years ago I spent about 6 months not being able to go anywhere except work and the local shopping mall. I'm pretty much recovered now, but movie theatres, pop concerts and restaurants still give me anxieties.

Oh dear! That must have been very hard on you. Am glad that you are largely recovered now. Is the appropriate treatment to try and go to more public events, or more like "try not to push your luck"?

I feel so loved. :D I'm really glad you like it. Don't stress yourself with writing 606, okay? Your papers are much more important.

I love it! I have the wallpaper on my desktop now. :D Ugh, I know my papers are more important, but they are just... so... fucking... boring I can't bring myself to write them.

Mark and I are starting to talk about wedding dates. At the moment it's looking like quite late 2007. He's trying to get me to agree to December 10th, because that's when we got together and also when he proposed, so he thinks if we can set the wedding on that day he'd have much less trouble remembering anniversaries. :D Forward planning. Anyway, this is a bit of forward planning for you too - hope it'll be a convenient time for you to come.

The wallpaper is so ugly. *hides head in shame* I need to make a new one someday. The sooner you're finished with your papers the sooner you can do fun stuff again, so start working already!

Mark is quite smart, you know? :D I'm not sure if Dec 10th will work for me, uni-wise, but who knows if I'll even be at uni by then. Either way, I'll find a way to come. :)

I'm so bad. I've only watched the first Harry Potter movie and for some odd reason I haven't watched the others. Weird. I've read the books though. I'll have to get on that.

I found the perfect comical pregnant!Boomer character study Miss Universum - Fertilize, but I'll have to wait for the first half of BSG season 2 source.

Good luck on the writing and the vidding. The Simon/River vid sounds very cool and interesting. Sometimes if there's an idea, the rest just comes into place later. And extra special good luck on the papers. :)

Harry Potter movies are entertaining, though of course books rule over movies every single time. Ooh, thanks for the upload! I'm off to check that song out right now.

Sometimes if there's an idea, the rest just comes into place later.
Or you realise the idea is so abstract that nothing you can actually do would work in the way you wanted it to. Bugger. I guess I'm going to take a while with this. Thanks for the luck!

I have had that DVD for a few weeks now. Why'd it come out so early in America? I don't get these release dates. One and two will probably always be my favorites out of the movies because I saw them before I read the books. One of the things I love most in the fourth is Voldemort scene oh yeah.

What's the song for the Simon/River vid? ('Cause I always end up downloading the songs you use. ;-) )

Bah, I'm so used to it I can't even get angry about it anymore. NZ get everything dead last. Remember the month-and-half-wait debacle that was Serenity? I haven't liked HP movies as much as the books grew longer and movies actually grew shorter and started shedding sideplots like there was no tomorrow. #2 is probably my favourite.

I actually thought Voldemort swanned around a bit more than necessary. I dunno. The whole Deatheater thing just didn't quite seem like what I'd expected.

The song is "Post Blue" by Placebo, off the new album.

Oh yeah, I remember that whole Serenity thing now. Well, you could always get a region-free DVD player and order the American releases when they come out earlier. ;-)

One will probably always hold a special place in my heart (how cheesy) because I love beginnings. Beginnings are just always holding something over anything that comes later. They have been hacking off lots of sideplots, but sometimes I think that's better because any movie beyond two hours and forty-five minutes makes me sleepy and antsy. Return of the King had that effect. Every time the screen when white or black near the end I was thinking, "Oh, tell me it's over!" even though we hadn't seen the Grey Havens yet.

I thought Voldemort moved around a little too much. I understood he just got his body back, and clearly he had to be feckin' ecstatic about that. But Voldemort doesn't strike me as the type of person to show that in front of other people, even if it has been thirteen years. I can't see anything but coolness from him. They made him just a bit more emotional ( ... )
