I didn't even really think of Dave's father as abusive, but you're right. Like, I didn't like Sam and Carly drawing comparisons from Fleck and Dave, because FLECK IS A CRAZY ASSHOLE WHO REALLY DOESN'T RESPECT/CARE ABOUT DAVE. Whereas, Sam LOVES Carly and would NEVER do anything that would really hurt her.

So yeah. The parallels were skewed. Sam's kind of dangerous and sometimes takes advantage of how thoughtful Carly is, but she also ADORES her and would die for her (almost did too!).

I love their crying jag at the end, because it really felt like the proper response to their horrible experience. And I love Spencer smooshing them together for a hug. <333333

I'm actually really excited for iSaved Your Life? I'm interested to see how Dan handles it.

If it goes the way you talk about, I WILL BE SO PISSED DAN. But I also think Carly may already be examining her feelings for Freddie? So maybe him saving her would be an excuse for her to figure things out more? IDK.

When HA! did this plot, Arnold saves Sid - Sid goes nuts trying to repay his debt and Arnold's like: "Dude, chill. You don't owe me anything." But SID IS RELENTLESS until one day when he's like: "Arnold, I think you are taking advantage of me now!" and Arnold's like: "SID I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET YOU TO STOP SUCKING UP TO ME FOR WEEKS NOW." and Sid's like: "You're a monster."

They patch things up, of course, yeah. I like how HA! did it. I REALLY hope that Freddie is uncomfortable with Carly's attention, because it makes him feel like he's manipulating her and he DOESN'T WANT TO BE THAT KIND OF GUY so he sits her down and is like: "Carly, it's cool. We're best friends and I like that and you don't owe me anything. If we ever date, I want it to be because you actually love me for reals and not out of obligation."

IDK. I kind of feel like he'll take advantage of it right away and then feel bad later, but IDK IDK IDK. There's so many ways this plot could turn ICKY. I just want Freddie to keep his development and keep in mind that Carly's his best friend and taking advantage of her is ICKY. :\

Yeah, I see what you mean. In universe, I can see how they were probably projecting their own relationship onto Fleck and Dave's, even though it's very different. Like, Sam didn't see how horrible Fleck is to Dave, but just saw Fleck's side of the story, and Carly only saw Dave's frustration. That's the best explanation I can come up with.

Heh, I remember that episode of Hey Arnold! you're talking about. Please, Freddie, take a page from Arnold's philosophy, keep your development, and don't be a creep! D:

I guess I wouldn't mind if AT FIRST Freddie has that idea in his head, but then feels super uncomfortable with it himself... Like, maybe he got advice (bad advice) from other boys at school...

I think the one benefit of that would be to see how Spencer handles it. I really, really LOVE Big Bro!Spencer, and I feel like we don't see quite enough of him.

AUGH, I can't wait till January!
