13 - Do you prefer canon or fanon when you write? Has writing fanfic for a fandom changed the way you see some or even all of the original source material?
Uhm, a mixture of both, I guess. I like canon as much as the next writer, but sometimes, canon blows. Honest. I mean, look at COE from Torchwood. Look at the dreaded Epilogue of Doom from Deathly Hollows. *shakes head* Sometimes, fanon is better.
And some fanon really changed the way I looked at certain relationships/characters/scenarios. Honest. I think I've talked about this earlier. Mistful's stuff. The Faithful 'Verse by LoveSlashAngst. God, I can't even remember atm; I've just started taking things for granted. Oh, for example, Tarsus IV, the fact that Jim Kirk was on the kill-list. *shakes head* Home by Lanaea. These things have become canon in my head. I can't change them now.
And yeah, for the above reason, because I want my characters to behave in a way that makes sense, it forces me to change the meaning of canon. 'M I making sense? I'm really tired. So yes. On the whole, yes. Fanon is prefered, doesn't mean I ignore canon. Fanon and writing has changed my points-of-view.
