Seriously, BOOKS are deliverable online. BOOKS. I can't get past that in my head: this isn't music or video, this is close to EXACTLY THE SAME THING. Or if they don't think they make books, Amazon delivers magazines and newspapers to Kindle subscribers, too. JEEZ. Not only that, but once you own it, you own it-- AND since they store all your purchases online, you can access them from multiple Kindle devices or re-up them if you've dropped your Kindle in a lake. (Now, if only they'd do that for music...)
I spent all weekend in a state of rage, and I think I've got most of what I wanted to say out now. Except for the whole thing about the comics community and the difference between male-dominated spaces and female-dominated spaces. And my whole slightly-related rant on how it's a very good idea, marketing-wise, for media companies and creators to be friendly in a hands-off way toward transformative works using their stuff, and how that should be worked into any sane marketing plan these days, and. Fuck, I guess I got more to say.
