I saw it!

So I've been a bad LJ-er lately. There's not been many updates from me, mostly because I've gotten a lot lazy. But I just HAD to post this up.

Back in January, I heard James McAvoy was going to be starring in a play in London titled Three Days of Rain. So naturally I was all SQUEE *goes crazy* because I am a HUGE HUGE FAN of his. To think I could actually see him live acting in front of me was inconceivable to me. And tonight, I've done it!!! I didn't think I would actually get the chance because all the cheap tickets on the stall (ground floor) were sold out and the rest were 47 freaking pounds, but I managed to get half price tickets for the stall seats, 10th row from the front. I thought the best seats we could get were dress circle, which was one floor higher, so when the guy at the booth told us they were good seats, I was all happy. I went with 2 of my gal-pals. And I've been ranting to my roommate for months about going to see it, so she knew how excited I was.

Here is a brief summary:
A year has passed since the death of famous architect Ned Janeway. His legacy is an iconic, internationally renowned 1960’s New York House designed with his late business partner Theo. Now their children must reunite to settle the estate and determine the future of the house. Walker (James McAvoy) and his sister Nan (Lyndsey Marshal) are joined by Theo’s son Pip (Nigel Harman) in the Manhattan loft where their fathers lived and worked. But the discovery of a journal and the brief entry, “three days of rain”, begins a surprising story the children could never have imagined ....."

So basically there's just 2 actors (James McAvoy & Nigel Harman) and 1 actress (Lyndsey Marshal) in the entire play. And it's split into Act I and Act II. In Act I, the setting is in 1990s with James & Lyndsey playing brother & sister, with Nigel as their friend Pip. And in Act II, they switch to the 1960s and James & Nigel plays each character's dads, and Lyndsey gets caught in a love triangle between them.

James in Act I plays a neurotic and dynamic character who's in a lot of emotional pain. And in Act II switches to a more reserved and calm guy with a stutter problem (which he did so brilliantly btw) who's in love with his friend's girl. It just shows how talented he is, and his eyes are so intense, it just draws you into his character. Haha, also, there was a lot of spit involved when he talked. xD

There was a moment I really liked, when the interval was on and Act II was about to start in a couple of minutes, James's character comes out and he just goes about casually around the apartment making coffee and then he goes to the table and starts drawing on the paper (since he was an architect). He just went on drawing for a minute or two before Act II officially began and the audience members were still chatting. It was just so cute to me.

I actually liked Act I better than Act II though it's the other way around for most people. There wasn't much action going on, but it was interesting to me actually studying the characters and finding out their story. There was more comedy and angst going on in Act I while Act II had more story progression. Overall, I thought the play was quite good, though maybe too short. I wanted to know more, find out more, learn more. It felt like the story wasn't done yet, like what happens next?

And after the show, the 3 of us got to the stage door. And I managed to get an autograph!!!! From both James & Nigel. And James said Thanks darlin' to me! :DDDD Too bad we couldn't get a picture, though some girls were lucky enough to get a picture with him because they were at the front. I of course, was seething with envy. Oh well, I was still happy enough with getting to see him so close. I was like sailing on the freaking cloud, yknow. ^-^

This is like the best thing about living in London.
