Hotel Chevalier (2007) all the trademark Anderson moves are there; stylized performances, ornate set design, wardrobe, props, music in the style of the 1960s ... his camera moves now seem showy and studied, like he's making movies whose sole purpose is to announce that they are Anderson movies.
it feels like he's lost sight of his characters and narrative in favor of an aesthetic. I keep holding out hope for more warmth and eccentricity, but instead get hermetically sealed samples. is this what he sees in his head now?
