So we've found a house and will officially be renters again by the end of this week. It's cute and livable, but it wouldn't have been my first pick by any means. We move Sunday and I'm up to my ears in packed and unpacked boxes. My room is barely walkable, though I've made a little pathway like back in the day when it used to be clothes and other miscellaneous things piled up on the carpet - (not the so distant past, but awhile nonetheless.) I'm just thankful I'm not packing away ten years of piled-up useless shit like when we moved from Mespo. That was Death saying hello. Argh - even the memory makes me cringe. I feel like a useless stupid American, wondering how someone could accumulate that much crap.
I've also rejoined the World of Employment. I'm actually going to be working at the place my grandpa lives. It's similar to a nursing home, but it's an all Alzheimer's facility. Nothing looks like a hospital like you would find at most nursing homes. It's a really great environment for those effected by dementia, and it seems like it will be a nice working environment. The DON is a million times better than that bitch at Holy Hell, and the rest of the administrators seem just as nice and considerate. It's part of a corporation, which is also different because I'm used to working at privately owned places, but this particular facility is rated number one by census out of about 120 or so across the country. The only reservations I have is that close to everyone on the shift I'll be working are somehow related to one another. There's like a whole family of Jamaicans that work the same shift, a mother and a son and an aunt and niece. So great - on top of having to deal with the usual clicks, I have to worry about family ties. Whoopie. However, I've heard once they all get to know you, they are pretty great people, so I'm excited. It will be sooooo nice to see some deposits on my bank statements instead of continuous withdrawls.
I'm think about buying a bike, too. A Vespa/scooter type deal actually. Even though I live in Ohio and won't be able to drive it half the year, I'm thinking it might really be worth it when I want to travel the country or over to Ireland. Not to mentions the gas saving benefits. The two models I'm heavily looking into right now are the Piaggio X9 (yummy yummy, and lots of storage space!), and the KYMCO Xciting (also delectable since it's standard color is orange and it has a super comfortable adjustable seat.) Both have max speeds of 100 mph, are great touring scooters, and can easily handle highways and open road. They are on the more expensive end as scooters go, but I figure I can get financed easily and they will suit my needs great! We'll see how the next couple of weeks go before I decide anything, but I'd really love to take one of those babies with me when I go to Ireland sometime in the next year or so. And maybe to Japan after that? Ooh, I'm getting excited just thinking about it, but I've got to remind myself to not let my excitement make my decisions for me. All I can do is dream - for now.
