"When you're safe at home you wish you were having an adventure; when you're having an adventure you wish you were safe at home."
-Thornton Wilder

Kelly and I walked back into the house first, laughing at our stories of our lack of skill with guns. We were stopped before we got past the library by Jane calling us. I looked at Kelly and she shrugged. Jane was standing in the middle of the library next to Castiel. Bobby was behind his desk and Giles was standing near a pile of books. He barely looked up when we entered.
"I have acquired us suitable lodging, we cannot stay forever." Jane stared at both of us.
"What?" I asked. "What do you mean?" She sighed.
"There is not enough space here if more vessels appear. I have spoken with Bobby, and then retrieved Castiel while you were out. We have found, and obtained, a new place for us."
"Found...what? How?" Kelly asked, pretty much covering what I thought everyone was thinking.
"It does not matter. We have found it."
"You can't just 'find' a house, there's all sorts of things that need to be done and why are you...how..." I paused and took a breath while trying to sort my thoughts.
Jane looked at Castiel and nodded. He stepped forward while pulling something out of an inside pocket on his coat. He handed, what seemed to be papers, to Sam.
Sam flipped through them, his eyebrows rising as he read. "It seems to be real. Everything's here, deed and all."
"What? How the hell...you know what, I'm not sure I want to know." I said, thinking that the combination of Castiel and Jane was kind of scary.
"What's it like?" Kelly piped up from where she was looking at the papers she took from Sam. "Where is it? What type of house is it?"
She frowned for a second before looking at Kelly. "It is slightly larger than this one. It is surrounded by land and trees." She looked at Castiel. "How far is it?"
He looked back at her. "It is close to Aberdeen."
"Aberdeen, South Dakota?" Bobby asked. Jane turned to look at him.
"You wished us to leave, and we will. However as they are the Gatekeepers, they will need to be close for the arrivals."
"You 'wished' them to leave?" Dean asked, looking at Bobby. His eyebrows were raised.
"I mighta mentioned it." Bobby shrugged and frowned at Dean. "This house ain't that large." I thought about it. We didn't know how many people would arrive and the house was already crowded.
"Actually..." I looked at the others as I interrupted the conversation. "They have a point."
"What?" I ignored Dean's question.
"How far away is Aberdeen from here?" I looked between Sam and Bobby.
"'Bout three hours." Bobby answered and I nodded. We wouldn't be able to have Castiel pop us back and forth, or even the vessel considering they always started in the panic room.
"We're going to need a car."

After a lot of talk, we had decided that we were going to check out the new place with the boys the next day, and that Bobby was going to give us a car. I also asked Dean if, when he was around, he would teach me a few things about fixing a car, should we ever need it. I made it sound like it was for our benefit, and while it was, my reasoning was to give myself another distraction. The less I thought about everything, the better.
I fell asleep to the feel of the car driving and the soft sounds of Metallica. I shouldn't have been surprised, I was never good at staying awake in cars, but my fear of nightmares had kept me awake previously until exhaustion hit. Even then I was forced awake by my dreams.
"Holy...this place is huge!" I heard Kelly exclaim.
I stepped out of the car and stretched before I turned to look at the house. It was two storeys and looked a bit rundown. The banister on the front porch was broken in a few places, and a shutter was hanging off the side of the window. Some of the windows didn't even have shutters. It had potential though; it just looked like no one had lived in it for years. I was surprised by that. The land around the house was overgrown with weeds and grass and there were trees in the distance.
"How much land do we have?" I turned to Kelly who had the papers in her hand.
"Um...says here..." she flipped the pages before going back to the first one. "Thirteen point five acres. I don't know how big that is." She flipped back to a page. "Hold on, here's a map." I moved closer to her to look at the map. It was a large amount of land.
"Wow..."
"Yeah." She looked at me and then back at the house. I followed her gaze to see Jane and the boys moving towards it. "Let's go check it out."
We walked up the steps of the porch carefully as it creaked under us. I tried to not think about falling through the steps and instead focused on Jane who somehow produced a key and opened the door. I was a little surprised that she knew how to use it, but figured either the agent or Castiel had explained it. We walked in and I waved a hand on front of my face to clear the dust that blew up. I heard someone cough and looked around as I stepped into the house. There was some furniture and the room on the right with the large front windows had a fireplace.
"Dude, this place is a dump." Dean's voice carried out to me from across the hall.
"Quiet man-child."
"Man-child?"
I sighed and ignored Dean and Jane and started to explore. The kitchen had an old fridge and a gas stove and a wooden table. The kitchen floor was the only one that wasn't wooden. Upstairs held three bedrooms and a washroom with an old claw footed tub. I considered what the water would look like at first when a thought occurred to me. I turned to Kelly. "How are we going to pay bills for electricity and stuff?"
She blinked up at me. "I didn't think about that. We could get jobs."
"You're going to need to." We both jumped as Sam appeared next to us.
"Jesus!" I had a hand on my chest and tried to calm my heart rate. "Don't do that!" I didn't do well scared anymore.
"Sorry," he grinned. "Don't worry though; we'll help you figure it out."
"We will?" Dean appeared from the other room.
"Yeah Dean," Sam looked at him before smiling again at us. He looked around the hallway. "It's nice," he said before Dean snorted.
"It'll take some work. Obviously a lot of cleaning." Kelly started listing off things as she led the way through the house and back downstairs. I followed slowly, thinking about it. We were going to be living alone, just us and the vessels. While I was certain Jane could fight, there were bigger and badder things in this world than she knew. I remembered the feeling of not having control of my body and I tried to shrug it off.
"We're going to need protection." They all turned to look at me and I shrugged. "There are scary things out there. A demon possessed me in Bobby's house of all places, what's to stop them from coming here. Plus, if there are vessels that will be staying with us, what about the angels? And what about anything else that might come get us?" I started hyperventilating at the thought of it. "I mean, how are we supposed to deal with this? With being alone?" I felt my head whip to the side as something collided with my cheek. The shock forced me out of my thoughts and I turned to look at Jane who was standing before me, lowering her arm.
"Woman! Don't let your fears guide you!" I blinked at her and saw the others staring at her in disbelief. My cheek stung.
"OW!" I raised a hand to it and winced. The girl slapped hard. "What was that for?"
"You were panicking."
"And you hit me?"
She just shrugged. "It is time to return. We have much to do and plan for." We all watched her walk out the front door. I had barely realised we had made it downstairs.
"You okay?" I looked at Kelly. "You were kind of ranting before she hit you, though, you have good points." She looked at the brothers. "What are we going to do?"
"We'll figure it out," Sam said as he held out an arm and motioned us to the door. "Come on, we better go."
"Yeah, don't want Amazon to come back swinging." Dean looked at me and winced. "Looks like she did a number on you."
I took my hand from my cheek. It still stung, but it wasn't as bad as before. "I've had worse in training...this just...took me by surprise."
"No kidding." Dean muttered. Sam made another motion and we all left the house and got into the car where Jane was waiting for us.

When we got to the house, it was dark out. Bobby had called the brothers into the library, and the rest of us went into the kitchen figuring out what we'd need for the house. We had finished the list and were talking about jobs when the boys walked in.
"What's up?" Kelly asked. I looked up from the list I was looking over.
"We're leaving." Dean said, "Bobby found a hunt."
"How'd the list go?" Sam asked, moving to look over my shoulder at the paper.
"We have just about everything, I think. We're just talking about jobs...any ideas?" I handed him the list and saw his eyebrows rise as he looked over it. It was probably the fact that I had underlined 'devils traps' multiple times.
"Yeah about that...we can get you some Ids. If you have anything with a picture, now would be the time to give it. Otherwise, we can probably find a camera and take them. After we get back, Kelly, we'll help you figure out where to work." Sam handed me back the list and looked at Kelly.
"Why only me?" She looked alarmed at him.
"Yeah, what about me?" I asked.
"You can't leave the house." I turned to Dean who was still by the door.
"What? Why not?"
"Michelle, you're wanted by the police for a count of murder in Tennessee. There are still cops looking for you. You can't go out too much." Sam said softly.
"What?" I knew that I was wanted for questioning in regards to the murder of the guys in the diner, but it surprised me I couldn't leave. "At all?"
"Who's going to drive to the new house and back?" Kelly asked, her voice getting a bit higher in pitch. "I can't drive! I don't even want to see Jane attempt it!"
Their voices faded into the background as I thought about it. The murders in Tennessee would forever haunt me, not only in my head. I would never be free of the demon and what it had done. Flashes of Jeremy and Jake dead appeared before me, and for a moment I could see myself killing them as the demon. I thought I almost smelt burnt flesh when a hand fell on my shoulder. I jumped and turned, moving an arm quickly to hit whoever was touching me.
"Michelle!"
I blinked as the world came in focus and I was halfway swinging into empty space. Sam had moved back and I looked to see the others staring at me in shock.
"Sorry," I muttered. I shook my head to free myself of the images and frowned. I had forgotten I was even in the kitchen. I shuddered and tried not to think about that.
"And that's another reason why she can't have a job." Dean called out, and I was grateful that almost everyone's attention went to him. Jane was still staring at me curiously and Giles looked like he was thinking. I felt the weight of the stares on me and stood up.
"Excuse me," I muttered and got up. I left the room without looking at anyone.
