"So," Rogue says, gathering the information in her head, "you can only do it once, and then you don't know how long it will last?"
Nico leans back on the sofa in the mansion's rec room. "That's about the sound of it."
"Interesting," Rogue concludes, twisting her gloved fingers into the hem of her sweater. "Can I let you know?"
Nico laughs. "Oh, sure. It's not like I have anywhere to runaway to. Take all the time you need." She reaches up to braid a stray bit of hair falling into her eyes.
Rogue smooths her hands across her lap. "Thank you," she says, meaning it sincerely. She smiles and pats Nico's knee with her gloved fingers, trying out the motion and deciding that she likes it.
