Victor sometimes goes to hell when he closes his eyes.

It's nothing intentional. Perhaps its something left over from synapses misfiring or his circuitry being overcharged, but even for fleeting moments, when his eyes drift closed, and at night when he settles, still warm from Nico's body, he is in hell.

It's not like the hell Dante imagined in The Inferno, full of fire and punishment. He wouldn't even call it hell, except that he knows that's what this must be. This empty room that he is taken to each time his eyes slide shut. It must be hell, Victor understands, because Alex is here.

The first time it happens, just for a moment, he is surprised into blinking furiously, hands flying up to his headphones, thinking this must be some kind of feedback from the police scanner. Instead of clearing the vision, it intensifies, like a flipbook, flashes of the "real world" mixed with his face, looming closer.

It doesn't take long to catch on, and instead of fighting it, he closes his eyes for a long moment, seeking the truth on the other side. Victor recognizes Alex from his picture on the wall, dark eyes glinting sharp. Eyes closed, Victor looks around the room, taking stock of the situation.

Alex doesn't speak, just slowly smiles, leaning back against a white wall.

Victor, startled, opens his eyes. It doesn't happen again until that night. "Why are you doing this?" It is obviously some magic that Alex is enacting from beyond the grave, done to break up the team. Victor knows what Alex is capable of. He is wary.

Alex is silent, eyes bright.

"Why me?" Victor asks, stepping closer in the room, his movements making no sound, his voice echoey. "Why not Nico… or Chase? You don't even know me."

Alex takes Victor's face in the palm of his hand. "Oh, but I do," he purrs.
