Title: Hazed

A year ago, even, you remember through the haze of it all. Mumbling, to yourself, "Happy fucking Valentine's day," and another glass of champagne, please. She was there, on your brother's arm. Smiling, when for all the strength you had you never could. And then you did smile, and it was her that did it. Another glass. You're full-up with bubbles.

Eyes on her, like a flame.
She pops another chocolate into her mouth, chews slowly, makes eye-contact. "What?"
Nina looks hungry, needy. Her fingers twitch.
"Do you want a piece? I totally splurged and bought myself some. Giving in to the Valentine's trauma or something." She licks her finger, slow.
Nina swallows.
Lily grins.

"And why not? I was under the impression that we had a standing reservation for Valentine's, Ann. Ann, my best friend. Ann, my dearest confidante."
"I'm pretty sure that a boyfriend kind of takes precedence over Galentine's Day. And besides, we can still do lunch."
"It's not the same."
"Well, no. Because we're not dating. You and I."
"If we were, would I be invited to dinner?"
