Interview reactions

I know for interviews here our COO tell the person to dress comfortably. This is something I'd typically balk at anyway, but even more so after my last job when I heard one of the managers say "Wow, that was a great interview, but I'm not going to hire them because they didn't wear a suit."
I think such an attitude is ridiculous, but I'll gladly play to it when it comes time to look for a job again.
