I feel like a dork for saying this, but this was SUPER informative. And I feel like now have a leg to stand on when I get pissed at the TV when this actually airs.
And when my roommate says, "Calm the eff down." I'll explain why I shouldn't have to.
My husband really didn't like Fire in the Ice because, as a hockey guy, there were just too many elements of it that weren't true to hockey. I had some issues with Plain in the Prodigy because, while I am not Amish, I grew up near an Amish community and let's just say - not so accurate. As a lawyer, I really hate it when Bones (and most TV shows for that matter) hit the courtoom. I have to suspend my disbelief way up there while the scene switches back and forth between prosecution witnesses and defence witnesses and the lawyers argue with each other like it's the first day of kindergarten. Oh yeah and swear in court. Buy hey, if they actually played it our like RL court, it would be a total snoozefest. So this is just one of those times when you just have to tuck Knowledge of the Law away and enjoy Booth's bod, er.... the ride.
I just started cracking up reading this and I am not a criminal attorney, but I do know a wee bit about 4th Amendment law because of the bar and I know you're absolutely right. But what makes me crack up is so your righteous indignation over it. I've already resigned myself to the fact that the Gravedigger trial is going to just stomp all over legal doctrine. I just thank god I'm not a trial attorney. ;)
