Ok, so I have been asked by my boss to poll music students about an upcoming change in the way SCORES are going to be placed in the library and in our online system. This is the part where you come in. The MRC is, from what I understand, going to be no more MRC, but everything is going to either be put in the STACKS (Scores) or the Reading Room (CD's, tapes, LP's....).
Here's the question.....
When seaching for a SCORE on ANNA, and you see that it's placed in the STACKS, which label for "type" would make it easier for you to realize that it is in fact the SCORE you are looking for? Having it labeled as "BOOK" or as "SCORE."
This is the current debate between the Circulation Department and the Bibliographic Services Department. The Circ Dept says it should say 'BOOK' because it's in the STACKS, but the Bib Serv Dept says it should remain as 'SCORE' but the location changed to 'STACKS' instead of 'MRC,' because we feel that it would make it easier for students to find exactly what they're looking for. I would love your input, and my boss is EXTREMELY excited to hear what music students actually want. I guess we finally have our "link" to getting the library in a more oranized working order. (And if you would like to talk to her directly let me know and I can give you her name and e-mail address.)
Thanks so much for helping us out, beacuse all the work I do is for YOU. : )
Oh, and on a side note....I've processed over 40 scores that are ready to be put on the shelf....how exciting. Woodwind stuff (trios, sax pieces, etc...), brass stuff (mainly trumpet solos, etc...) and some pop music. It's gonna be wonderful...and there's still TONS to go!!
